There is another world when the sun dips low in the west and the moon rises in the darkness casting a wan silvery glow on all that it touches.

Nocturnal creatures awake and begin the nightly journeys to feed while we are asleep.

One of my favorites is the red triangle slug. It is the largest native Australian slug with a red triangle on its head.

During the night it crawls up tree trunks and even houses and feeds off algae. Morning reveals its journey, a trail formed by the slugs using its mouth parts to graze on this algae.

These intricate patterns form a record in time and space, an organic log, of the nightly habits of this fascinating creature. Nature is the ultimate artist.
